I felt pulled to write this post today after an interview I did for a podcast. I loved the conversation because it helped me clarify why I’m here doing what I do.
I’ll be honest this business is not easy. Navigating the minefield of rights, wrongs, and legalities can feel overwhelming. There are days I think, maybe this isn’t right… maybe I should just move on to something easier.
And then, just as I start to doubt, a sign arrives. A message from a woman I’ve helped. A piece of feedback that reminds me why I began. Those moments tell me clearly: keep going.
I didn’t choose this path it chose me. And so I’m here for the ride, open and excited to see where it takes me.
The interview below
When you first meet Melina Xavier, founder of Earth’s Alchemy, what strikes you is her calm, empathetic energy. But behind that gentleness is a story of resilience, curiosity, and love one that has shaped the way she creates her handmade CBD oils and supports women through emotional healing and menopause.
Where It All Began
Melina’s journey with CBD wasn’t planned. It began in the most ordinary way: a conversation with a surfer neighbour who used it for back pain and sleep. His story planted a seed. Soon after, as she cared for her mother living with Alzheimer’s and arthritis, she felt called to try making oil herself.
“My mum couldn’t sleep, she was in pain and anxious. We’d tried store-bought oils, but they were too strong for her. So I made something gentler, with love and intention. And it worked. That first batch changed everything
it gave her comfort, and it showed me that healing could be handmade.”
This was the birth of Earth’s Alchemy.
Creating From Life Experience
Melina is a woman in perimenopause, a mother, a daughter, and a caregiver. All of these roles shape the way she creates.
“I don’t make products just to sell them. Everything I create comes from experience. If I’m struggling with something sleep, hot flushes, emotional pain ask: what would help me right now? And that’s what I make. My oils are born from real needs, real love, and good intentions.”
This approach keeps her grounded in authenticity, ensuring every bottle has heart woven into it.
Supporting Women Through Change
For Melina, it’s not about being an expert or handing out endless advice. Instead, she focuses on empathy.
“I don’t pretend to know everything. I put myself in a woman’s shoes and ask: how would I feel in this moment? From there, I respond with as much sensitivity and love as I can. Sometimes what women need most isn’t another lecture it’s compassion, presence, and knowing they’re not alone.”
Busting Myths About CBD and Menopause
There are two misconceptions Melina would love to clear up:
CBD isn’t about a euphoric ‘high.’ It’s subtle, gentle, and builds up over time. Healing doesn’t have to be dramatic often it’s slow, sacred, and consistent.
Menopause isn’t the same for everyone. It doesn’t show up as just hot flushes and mood swings. Symptoms vary widely, touching every part of a woman’s life. What’s needed most is more open conversations, women sharing stories, and wisdom being passed down.
Authenticity at the Core
Unlike most brands that outsource, Melina insists on growing, making, and bottling her own oils.
“For me, it’s about authenticity. If I use calendula, I want to grow calendula. I need to know the story behind what I make. When I stay connected from seed to bottle, the product carries not just quality, but soul.”
A Heart-centred Vision
While many entrepreneurs dream of building empires, Melina’s vision is different.
“I don’t want a massive, multi-million-dollar company. I want Earth’s Alchemy to stay heart centred, sustainable, and beautiful. I want it to support my family and give me more freedom to help others.
One day, I’d love to create a retreat space where women can come together, connect, and share wisdom. A sanctuary for healing, knowledge, and community.”
A Message of Hope
At the heart of Earth’s Alchemy is connection. Melina’s message to women who are struggling whether with menopause, emotional scars, or simply feeling lost is simple but profound: “I’ve been where you are. I stand with you. You’re not alone. If you’ve found me, you’re in the right place.”
